HOW DO YOU SET UP YOUR AUDIO FOR YOUR JUST CHATTING STREAMING SESSIONS?

Like all streaming fans, you should be aware that audio quality is at least as crucial as video quality. Mediocre sound quality can literally ruin your viewers’ experience. This is particularly true in the context of a Just Chatting session, where communication and interaction are key. This is where our Stream 100 and Stream 200 XLR audio controllers come in.

In this article, we’ll walk you through the steps to take to properly set up your audio controller.

Choose the right audio controller

The key to success in improving your audio setup lies in choosing the right audio mixer for your needs. To do this, estimate the number of audio inputs you will use, according to the type of content you want to offer: drawing, discussion, cooking, or other hobbies. In addition, take into account the devices that you own, in order to better target your needs.

Install and connect your hardware

Once you’ve chosen your audio mixer, it’s time to move on to the physical installation. Thankfully, this step is really simple.

Here are the connections that you’ll need to make:

  1. The audio mixer’s power cable (USB-C)
  2. USB headphones
  3. USB microphone
  4. XLR microphone (Stream 200 XLR only)

Configure your software

Once you’ve made your connections, you can focus on the software part. This is easy to do: just follow the instructions in the tutorials to properly assign your stream’s different audio sources. Up to 8 sources can be configured (OBS, Web browser, music, etc.). To easily locate them again when you’re streaming, you can customize the sources using icons, colors and titles.

Once the sources have been properly assigned, you can proceed to adjust the audio levels. You must make absolutely sure to avoid distortion, by ensuring that the levels are neither too low nor too high. Adjust your gain for each microphone and adjust the equalization according to your voice and the environment in which you are streaming.

Do a live test of your setup

Before really going all out for your just chatting streaming session, try some live tests to make sure that everything is working perfectly. Don’t hesitate to ask your friends about the audio quality, and adjust the settings accordingly.
