Why should you livestream?

When preparing for streaming, there are a few things you should consider doing first. First, make sure that all your equipment is in good working order – nothing kills a good session faster than technical difficulties! Second, prepare your playlist by rehearsing beforehand so that you can perform to your best capacity during the broadcast. Third, get ready from a software standpoint with your favourite DJ software, a virtual audio device and a streaming software (this article might help!). What equipment do you need? 

At minimum, a computer (or laptop) capable of running video-streaming software such as OBS is necessary. Next, a DJ controller that you’re comfortable with and already using, such as the DJControl Inpulse 500! You don’t need to buy an external audio interface or another computer to stream your sets, but as you get more comfortable with going live, an interface could be useful for connecting microphones or instruments into the computer so that they can be streamed out live along with music playing from other sources (e.g., Serato, DJUCED). Last but not least, decent internet connectivity is key as well – without proper internet speed/bandwidth, it’ll be difficult to stream out high quality audio and video content consistently throughout the entire performance.
