London, 30 August 2007 - Hercules, initiators of the "WiFi made simple" concept, is now launching an ADSL2/2+ Modem Router - a device that offers home users the opportunity to run a secure and public WiFi network simultaneously in the home.
Dual WiFi Network
Firstly, the secure private network is accessible only to authorised users with whom you share your security password (WEP, WPA, WPA2). These users benefit from a fully secure wireless Internet connection and can access shared files and printers connected to the network.
Secondly, a public WiFi network can be activated simultaneously so that friends or other visitors can use your network. You no longer need to disclose your WiFi security password. The Hercules Modem Router acts as a "mini-hotspot" within your home or business, enabling relatives or guests to freely access the Internet and their email accounts whilst keeping your shared folders totally secure and inaccessible. The network can be activated or deactivated with a click which provides control of the length of time users have access to the network as well.
Powerful and Simple WiFi Modem Router
The Hercules Modem Router (HWGADSL2P-54V2) features an ADSL, RE-ADSL, ADSL 2 & ADSL 2+ modem for maximum compatibility and utilises the universal standard WiFi 802.11g to guarantee transfer rates of 54 Mbps over both wireless networks. It also delivers functional compatibility with all other 802.11b and 802.11g products.
For peace of mind, the device offers maximum security - thanks to WEP, WPA & WPA2 encryption - while providing simple security parameter management features. It also has a dual built-in firewall comprising SPI (Stateful Packet Inspection) and NAT (Network Address Translation) functions. This prevents unauthorised users from accessing the system. It also hides other users connected to the Internet from view. The device also includes DDNS support and a DMZ feature.
This unit comes with Hercules WiFi Manager software which has a user-friendly user interface.
The modem router boasts a compact design, enabling users to place it conveniently around the home. The slick matte and lacquered black finish sets it apart from other products on the market.
The HWGADSL2P-54V2 will be available from October 2007 at the recommended retail price of £59.99 incl. sales tax. A pack featuring a Modem Router and USB WiFi Key will also be available at the recommended retail price of £99.99 incl. sales tax.
