Hercules announces new range of WiFi 802.11N solutions
The new generation of ultra-fast, 100% certified devices!
London, 15 April 2008 - Hercules is proud to introduce a comprehensive range of WiFi N devices based on the current WiFi Alliance certified technology, 802.11n Draft 2.0. This range is fully interoperable with the current 802.11b, g & n certified devices, delivering even more stable performance levels for an increasingly demanding and knowledgeable user base.
The four products that make up the range are the WiFi N Router (HWNR-300), USB N Key (HWNU-300), PCI N Card (HWNP-300) and the PCMCIA N Card (HWNPCM-300). These in house developed devices combine the exceptional speed offered by WiFi N technology along with the reliability and simplicity that have made Hercules’ WiFi products successful since 2005. The highly prized official "WiFi certified b/g/n" logo is featured on all product packaging.
Hercules Wireless N Router (HWNR-300)
The new Hercules router (HWNR-300) offers very high bandwidths reaching up to 300 Mbps*. This is 5.5 times faster than the previous 802.11g standard. This bandwidth offers users boundless possibilities including broadcasting HD movies and music with 5.1 surround sound, fast surfing of he Internet, playing online games and more... simultaneously and lag free!
This level of performance can only be attained with 3 antennas. Hercules has designed a system featuring multiple articulated arms - an innovative feature that will enable users to use this new technology to the maximum. The orientation of the antennas is essential to attain peak performance. This exclusive concept (patent pending) enables users to place the antennas in an infinite range of positions, resulting in optimum transmission and signal reception (beating the performance of 3 standard antennas), regardless of the position of the router in the home or office.
The router also includes the WiFi Protected Setup feature, as specified by the WiFi Alliance. Simply pressing on the WPS button located at the back of the device enables users to automatically establish a secure connection to all WPS compatible WiFi devices. No need for a security key! The maximum security offered by WPA2/WPA encryption prevents any intrusions on users’ wireless home networks.
The router is supplied with the Hercules WiFi Manager N software which provides a user-friendly interface that has made Hercules famous in WiFi circles. The Hercules Quick Access software enables speedy access to this interface; advanced users can even access the device via any Internet browser.
The Hercules Wireless Router N will be available in end of May 2008.
Hercules Wireless N USB - HWNU-300
The Hercules USB adapter (HWNU-300) also offers bandwidths of up to 300 Mbps*. Thanks to MIMO technology and to two built-in antennas users can gain access from any location in the home or office. For those who already own a router or a box using WiFi 802.11g, the Hercules key is optimised to further enhance this bandwidth and coverage. The Hercules WiFi key is interoperable with all 802.11b, g & n products as standard.
Hercules is also renowned for keeping it simple and delivers on its promise. The Hercules key uses the latest innovation in the standard WIFI Alliance standard: the WPS feature. Users no longer need to look for a network to connect to: they simply press the WPS buttons, located on the certified N key and N router, to automatically establish a fully secure connection. This new USB adapter features a comprehensive installation wizard and the Hercules WiFi Station N software, for enhanced ease of use.
The Hercules USB WiFi N key is available in May.
Hercules Wireless N PCI Card (HWNP-300) and Hercules Wireless N PCMCIA Card (HWNPCM-300)
Hercules’ PCI card and PCMCIA card will both benefit from 802.11n Draft 2.0 technology and certification**. These devices also offer bandwidths reaching up to 300 Mbps - sufficient to enable desktop PCs and laptop PCs to connect to an ultra-fast network.
Equipped with 3 remote aerials, on the PCI card, and 3 built-in aerials, on the PCMCIA card, these two solutions offer high-performance, optimised network coverage and increased bandwidth that can be used with routers or 802.11g boxes. Again, a simple press on the PCMCIA card’s WPS button or a click in the PCI card’s software interface will enable users to connect to their home network or a WiFi hotspot instantly (WPA2/WPA secure encryption).
Both cards feature the Hercules WiFi Station N software for easy management of all available features.
The Hercules PCMCIA card and PCI card will be available at the end of May.
